Meal subsidies

Applications for subsidies to cover the daily menu during the 2025-2026 academic year are open until 5 September (inclusive)

[ 17/07/2025 ]

To ensure that no one is excluded from university study for financial reasons, the Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV) has announced its meal subsidies for the 2025-2026 academic year, intended to cover the daily menu for students enrolled in official bachelor's or master's degree programmes.

The application period will be open from today, 15 July, until 5 September (both inclusive).

Financial and academic requirements

With the logical exception of new students (who will be awarded grants if applicable without taking into account the following requirement), grants will be awarded to students who, during the previous academic year, passed more than 40% of the credits they enrolled in if these exceeded 40 ECTS (full-time) or 50% if they were enrolled part-time (40 ECTS or less).

Applications from those who meet the academic requirements will be prioritised according to the per capita income of the family unit, up to a maximum of €8,000, in ascending order, until the number of grants available has been completed (with a maximum amount of €290,678.16).

The definition of the family unit, the calculation of the family's financial situation and the award criteria can be consulted in the full terms and conditions of the call.

Failure to use 90% of the vouchers awarded will result in the loss of the grant.

To use as many vouchers as possible and ensure that the largest possible number of applicants benefit from them, the vouchers used will be monitored.

Thus, beneficiaries who, on 31 January 2026, without sufficient justification in the opinion of the Social Action Committee, have not used at least 90% of the aid granted up to that date, will have their aid revoked, and the vouchers will be reallocated to people on the waiting list.

Similarly, on 31 July 2026, beneficiaries who have not used the aforementioned 90% of the vouchers granted without sufficient justification since 1 February 2026 will not be eligible for meal assistance during the first term of the 2026-2027 academic year.

Misuse of the subsidy (only valid for the daily menu) or its use by persons other than the holder will result in revocation.

How to apply

Any student can apply for the meal subsidy by completing the online form, which is available in the student's personalised information (Intranet), choosing the number of meal vouchers they expect to use during each of the two established periods (from 1 October 2025 to 31 January 2026, and from 1 February 2026 to 31 July 2026), up to a maximum of 40 vouchers per period.

Appeals and resolutions

Once the application period has ended, Student Services will publish a provisional list of accepted and rejected applicants (including the reason(s) for rejection) on its website. Interested parties will then have 5 working days to submit appeals.

Once the deadline for appeals has passed and the arguments presented have been studied, the proposal will be submitted to the Rector, who will decide within a maximum period of one month from the end of the deadline for submitting appeals. The final decision will then be published on the Student Services website.
